School Allergy List — avoid sending these items to school
We have children in our schools with life-threatening allergies. Please check this list and remember it can change with the addition of new students.
All Peanut Products (examples are peanut butter or peanut oil or peanuts etc.),
Fish (examples are salmon or tuna or halibut and many more),
Fish-Food for School Aquariums,
Tree Nuts (examples are almonds or coconuts or pine nuts or pecans and many more),
Crustacean Shellfish (examples are lobsters or crabs or crawfish or prawns or shrimp),
Mollusk Shellfish (examples include octopus or squids or abalones or clams or mussels or oysters or scallops etc.)
Take care when sending all foods to school as some children can have mild to severe allergic reactions. Consider ingredients used in home-cooked items, for example, did you use peanut oil in a recipe?

School History
In the early 1960s, Reverend Kemeisis and an interested group of parishioners decided to establish Catholic education in Manitouwadge. The Church was completed in December of 1959, so it was now time for a school.
IN APRIL OF 1960 THE FIRST SEPARATE SCHOOL Board, three trustees, was elected. They drew up plans for a modern, nine-room school, fully equipped to educate children from Kindergarten to Grade 8. Work began in June of 1961. In September of 1962, Our Lady of Lourdes Separate School opened its doors to 222 students. Bilingual education was available for Grade 1 and 2. Each successive year saw an added bilingual grade so that upon completion of Grade 8 students communicated in both English and French.
In 1968 an addition was built consisting of a library, a supply room and one classroom on the upper floor. The lower floor received a large kindergarten room with its own entrance and washroom, one classroom and a nurse’s room. In 1974 a gym, science room, and custodian storage room were added to the eat of the school.
A final addition was made to the main entrance in 1976. A new library and staff room were added to the lower floor. The upper floor received two classroom, washrooms, and a new office.
