Butterflies In The Classroom

 The students in Mrs. Sturgeon's Grade 1/2 class at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School have been busy caring for some pets and learning about the lifecycle of butterflies this past month.

On May 28th, each student recieved a tiny caterpillar to care for and watch grow. The students their caterpillars a name and watched them go through the various stages of their lifecycles.

The caterpillars began eatting and growing very quickly. The tiny caterpillars became big caterpillars within 2 weeks and began to make their chrysalis. The caterpillars were in their chrysalis stage for 7-10 days and emerged as butterfiles right in front of the students eyes.

On Tuesday, June 22nd, the school came out to watch the students release their butterflies into nature. What an incredible learning experience that I am sure none of the students will soon forget!
