Grade 8 Students Keep Reaching Higher
|

|
Six students were honoured a graduation ceremony on June 17, 2010. The celebration included a mass celebrated by Father Jean Morin at St-John the Baptist Catholic Church. Mass was followed by speeches by the principal, Mrs. Joanne Hoffman and Elders Genevieve Echum and Gilbert Legarde. Keep sowing the seeds of hope, shaping the future and always reaching higher were all highlighted in the readings and speeches throughout the ceremony. Graduates were Tyrell Chapais, Ethan Charles, Brook Lafave, Alyssa McMahon, Jamie Ouellet and Brandon Tucker all received diplomas. Denis Brochu presented blessed rosaries donated by the Knights of Columbus. Bill McKay, school trustee, also presented students with pins form the Superior North Catholic District School Board. Academic and Overall Excellence Bursary donated by Knights of Columbus to Mr. Denis Brochu was awarded to Jamie Ouellet. Ethan Charles was the recipient Excellence in Art donated by Student Council. Most Constant Effort in Language Arts donated by Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association and presented by Mrs. Lilliana McPherson went to Alyssa McMahon. Maria Tittaferente Compassion Bursary donated by The Catholic Women’s League and presented by Mrs. Lillian McPherson was awarded to Jamie Ouellet. Brandon Tucker received excellence in Mathematics and was awarded a bursary donated by the Longlac Legion. Mrs. Jocelyne Bangs-Jeffrey presented Brook Lafave with a dictionary from the Greenstone Public Library Board Award. Most Constant Effort in Math donated by School Council and Presented by Mrs. Rita Rabcaniak was awarded to Tyrell Chapais. Congratulations to all Graduates and a heartfelt thank you to all organizations who so kindly donated bursaries to encourage students to always keep reaching higher.
