Basketball Free Throw Superstars

On Tuesday, February 5th at 6:30pm, the Annual Knights of Columbus Free Throw Competition was hosted in the St. Hilary School gymnasium. Grand Knight, Ed Asselin and fellow Knight Bob Ritchie welcomed competitors from 4 of the local elementary schools. Competitors concentrated on their skills as they were cheered on by friends and family. The Knights of Columbus offered all of the athletes refreshments and winners in each age category were presented with a medallion and a certificate. Scores from the final round will go on and be judged against other free throw contestants from across the province. This was a good warm-up for the elementary students, as their annual basketball tournament is coming up on February 17th.

Free Throw Champions from each category were as follows:

  • Boys 10yrs: Reed Swanson from Red Rock Public School

  • Boys 11yrs: Mathey Booker of St. Hilary School

  • Boys 12yrs: Ben Hendricken from Red Rock Public

  • Boys 13yrs: Trace Oconner from Red Rock Public

  • Girls 10yrs: Cassie Langthorne from George O'Neil

  • Girls 11yrs: Cassidy Houston from St. Hilary

  • Girls 12yrs: Hailey Chiasson from St. Hilary

  • Girls 13yrs: Sommer Landry from St. Hilary

Many thanks to the Knights of Columbus for their continous dedication to this competition!
