Catholic Education & Mental Health Week 2020
During the week of May 3-10, 2020 the Superior North Catholic District School Board will celebrate the significant contribution that Catholic Education has made to the community, the province and Canada and celebrate, protect and promote mental health.
Our Catholic Graduate Expectations challenge students to articulate in society those fundamental values that underpin Catholic education. The theme for this year’s Catholic Education Week is ”Igniting Hope.” Its theme, "Igniting Hope," is not only an inspiring message for our continued social distancing circumstances but is also a call to action. SNCDSB is doing its part to ignite hope among our staff, students, schools and communities.
The theme for Mental Health Week this year is ‘social connection’ and its importance for mental health. The campaign this year calls us to #GetReal about how we feel. This year’s theme is based on the insight that people commonly ask each other how we are– but that it is also common not to provide – or expect – a truthful answer. Many of us say we are fine even when we don’t mean it. ‘I’m fine” keeps us at arm’s length of real social connections with others. Every time we just go through the motions we miss a chance to connect with others in a meaningful way.
As we face COVID-19 we need each other more than ever. Our team at #SNCDSB has created a week of virtual activities to bring us all together! During this week, students, families and all staff are invited to take part in the various activities that are being offered virtually.
