Superior North Catholic District School Board held their 3rd annual Indigenous Education Professional Development day for all staff at St. Edward Catholic School in Nipigon on Friday, May 3rd.

SNCDSB was honoured to have community speakers, Elders and Knowledge Keepers come to our PD facilitate the KAIROS Blanket Exercise and speak about Land-based Learning, Treaties, Mishomis (Grandfather Drum), Plants and Natural Medicines, Woodland Art, M├ętis - History Culture and Governance, An Introduction to Pow Wows, Gichgiiwedin Games and Deepening Math through Indigenous Teachings.

These sessions are so important for our staff to have an understanding and appreciation of Indigenous history, culture and traditions so that they can share this learning with students at SNCDSB and ensure that it is embedded into their daily practices.
