Itinerant Music/Dance Teacher
SNCDSB welcomes Melanie Jewiss as our new Itinerant Music/Dance Teacher.
Melanie Jewiss has been teaching with the Board since 2013.
Over the past two years, she has been part of the youth leadership initiative for our students to learn and teach others traditional hoop dancing. Melanie is very proficient in other types of dance such as hip pop and line dancing. She has taken music lessons since she was young and can play different instruments including saxophone, clarinet, flute, accordion, piano, trumpet, trombone and many more. She was part of her high school band and was a member of the Chatham-Kent Junior Concert Band. She has a thorough understanding of musical notation, theory and history.
Ms. Jewiss is very exciting about her new role because she feels the arts are an important part of developing the whole child and with her strong passion for music and dance, this should be shared throughout our School Board and give the students an amazing opportunity.
