Media Release Positive Behaviour Support Worker

Superior North Catholic District School Board is thrilled to welcome to our team Ms. Kathleen Mahon as our new Positive Behaviour Support Worker.

Ms. Mahon graduated from the three (3) year Child and Youth Worker Program at Confederation College. In addition to her education, she has seven (7) years working experience in her field providing support services to children and families in the Greenstone area.

Ms. Mahon has been the Child and Youth Worker at the Public School since August 2013. Through her years at the Public School, she has gained experience working with a variety of students with various needs.

Kathleen was the Behaviour Management Systems Lead in her school and assisted staff and students in creating therapeutic learning environments. Working alongside students, families, and coworkers; Kathleen has experienced first hand how valuable it is to work in an inclusive environment with a multidisciplinary team.

Prior to working at the Public School, Kathleen worked at The Children's Aid Society of Thunder Bay as a Child Care Worker. Through this experience, she learned the importance of helping children advocate for their needs and working with families to set everyone up for success.

Kathleen has participated in numerous ABA, restorative practice and trauma-informed training. These opportunities have provided her with the skills needed to work through stressful and high risk situations with students.

Ms. Mahon is excited to join the SNCDSB team and build new meaningful relationships with all the staff, students and families.

Congratulations Kathleen and welcome to our SNCDSB Family!
