Minister Patty Hajdu visited Holy Angels School
Minister Patty Hajdu visited Holy Angels School. Minister Hajdu visited all classrooms from Kindergarten to Grade 8, including the Native Language and Culture and French as a Second Language classrooms.
Minister Hajdu visited communities around the North Shore on January 16-18. Minister Hajdu has been recently appointed to Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour and Superior North Catholic District School Board and Holy Angels School were thrilled she came to chat with the students in our schools! Don McCarther, CEO of the Township of Schreiber also joined in the school visit.
The special visit from Minister Hajdu began with a warm welcome from Holy Angels School Principal, Kim Figliomeni, Superior North Catholic District School Board, Director of Education, Alexa McKinnon and Superintendent, Kerry Desjardins. A tour of the school to see our wonderful students and the classrooms followed. The students were excited to share their work with Minister Hajdu in key areas of such as; Technology, Native Language and Culture, Early Learning and Mathematics.
Minister Hajdu took time in each of the school classrooms to have conversations with our students and answer their many inquisitive questions about her job and her interests. One of the first questions asked by a Grade ¾ student is “What is a Politician?” and of course grade ½ students all wanted to know “Do you have any pets?” Holy Angels grade ⅚ and ⅞ students got into deeper conversations with Minister Hajdu about Free Trade and Career choices. Minister Hadju spoke with the students about the importance of being “open” to their future and always be open to opportunities that might not currently exist.
We Thank Minister Hajdu and her team for the wonderful opportunity to visit with her. Our Board looks forward to future return visits with her and opportunities for Superior North Catholic District School Board schools to take part in Google Hangouts with Minister Hajdu!
