Superior North Catholic District School Board Holds Inaugural Board Meeting

The Superior North Catholic District School Board (SNCDSB) held its Inaugural Board meeting on Monday, December 10, 2018, at the Catholic Education Centre in Terrace Bay.

For the 2018-2022 term, the Superior North Catholic District School Board welcomes back our acclaimed board members: Hugh McCorry, Marathon; Amanda Monks, Terrace Bay; Lawrence McParland, Schreiber; Judy Wawia, First Nation; Marline Ilijow, Nipigon; Shirley Jean, Red Rock; and Lilliana McPherson, Longlac. SNCDSB also welcomes our new members Kristy Lachance, Manitouwadge and Chereyl Marino, Geraldton/Nakina.

Superior North Catholic District School Boards’ new Board was sworn into office immediately prior to the election for the Chair and Vice-Chair. Trustee Hugh McCorry was acclaimed as 2019 Board Chair and Judy Wawia was acclaimed as 2019 Vice-Chair of the Superior North Catholic School Board of Trustees.

Interim Director of Education Maria Vasanelli welcomed Superior North Catholic School Board’s two new members and welcomed back seven acclaimed members. Ms. Vasanelli thanked all Trustees for the commitment to education and congratulated Chair McCorry and Vice-Chair Judy Wawia on their acclamations.

The Inaugural meeting was preceded by a mass and commissioning of Trustees at St. Martin of Tours Church, officiated by Father Terry Sawchuk. Thank you to Father Terry Sawchuk for the beautiful mass and commissioning service, Betty Hanley for the liturgical music, and St. Martin Catholic School students for leading the mass.
