Superior Science visits SNCDSB
Superior Science visited Superior North Catholic District School Board schools during the week of June 3 - 6, travelling to: St. Hilary in Red Rock; St. Edward in Nipigon; Holy Angels in Schreiber; St. Martin in Terrace Bay; Holy Saviour in Marathon; and Our Lady of Lourdes in Manitouwadge offering programming for students from kindergarten to grade 8. Students had the opportunity to explore 3D printing, Makey Makey circuits and Ozobots. The visit was supported by Ontario Power Generation financial donation designated specifically for regional outreach.
Superior Science is a student-run, non-profit program that sparks children's interests in science, engineering and technology through fun, hands-on activities. Based at Lakehead University, Superior Science's philosophy lies in learning through hands-on and interactive experiences. Since 1999, this program has continued its goal of promoting awareness of science by offering a variety of outreach programs throughout Northwestern Ontario. Over 40,000 youth have been reached throughout Northwestern Ontario since Superior Science began over twenty years ago!
They aim to create inclusive, positive, and fun experiences that will bring out the inner scientist or engineer in anyone! Through their outreach programs, they also seek to engage youth who wouldn't normally participate in science programs.
Superior North Catholic District School Board students and staff are grateful for the opportunity to have the program visit our schools and learn about science, technology, engineering and math!
