The Superior North Catholic District School Board is committed to the safety and health of its workers. Your Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee represents you, the worker, by having an equal number of worker and management representatives on the committee.

The Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee is a powerful tool. It can recommend improvements for the health and safety of workers and require the employer to provide a written response within 21 days. S.9 (18)

The Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee meets every three months and posts the minutes of these meetings in each workplace. As well workplace inspections are done annually (system level) and monthly by a school representative (school level).

The purpose of the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee is to represent workers an:
to control worker exposure to toxic substances ( Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System ) have worker participation in health and safety programs (training)
to increase workers rights (a forum to discuss issues related to health and safety)
