Superior North Catholic District School Board would like to welcome Carlo Porretta to his new role as System Catholicity Lead.

Carlo is very passionate about Catholic education in Ontario. He studied religion and politics at the University of Bologna as part of his university education and earned a Masters of History Degree from York University completing his thesis on Saint Benedict the African. After earning his Bachelor of Education from Lakehead University, Carlo worked in various Northern fly-in communities across Ontario, as well as in Manitoba and Alberta.

Carlo has years of experience being a school principal and is very excited to start his new role as System Catholicity Lead within SNCDSB. He states: “I am blessed, honoured and extremely grateful to serve our Catholic school community, our staff and students, and the families of SNCDSB. I look forward to working with our Principals, Parish Priests and the Senior team to achieve student success and excellence across our Catholic Communities in the Greenstone area, always guided by Christ at the Centre of everything that we do.” Porretta's deep faith and knowledge of our traditions and values are excellent attributes that will support our schools and will make him an excellent candidate for this position at our board. He states: “I will continue to model my faith daily and will be a strong advocate for Catholic education as I embark on this endevour with Christ at the helm, I will strive for excellence in religious education and follow the guidelines of the Ontario Catholic School Graduate expectations”.

Carlo’s enthusiasm for his new role is evident, although he will be missed at St. Joseph Catholic School where he served as Principal for the past two years. “I want to thank the staff, students and families of St. Joseph Catholic School, I look forward to serving them in a different capacity.”
