Superior North Catholic District School Board Begins a New School Year
Posted on 08/31/2020

On August 31, 2020, the staff at Superior North Catholic District School Board (SNCDSB) returned to their respective schools for the first time for the 2020-2021 school year.

This year, getting back to school, whether online or in-person will come with its challenges. Our focus at SNCDSB this year is safety, ensuring our students return feeling welcome, safe, and cared for and then curriculum.

Our SNCDSB staff will spend their first three days back in professional development sessions tailored to answer the needs of all our staff including the Exploring Ontario's New Mathematics Curriculum, Google Classroom & Digital Learning, Mental Health and Well-being, and COVID-19 Health and Safety Training with the Thunder Bay District Health Unit.

Throughout the return to school planning process, safety continues to come first for both our teachers and our students. Classrooms will have a different look this year for safety reasons and to respect the physical distancing guidelines.

We want to thank our teams who worked hard throughout the summer months to prepare our schools to be ready to welcome our students.

During the opening of the three-day professional learning sessions, Maria Vasanelli, Director of Education thanked all staff for their dedication to our schools.

"We value your work and dedication to our Catholic schools. I feel confident that we are ready for our return and we are going to have a fantastic year". - Maria Vasanelli, Director of Education.
