Welcome image for Skills Ontario Thunder Bay Career Exploration Event There were four Grade ⅞ classrooms from Superior North Catholic District School Board (SNCDSB) who participated in the Skills Ontario Thunder Bay Career Exploration Event on Wednesday, October 27th. The virtual event allowed students from SNCDSB’s large geographical area to participate in world-class learning in their own communities. Students learned from industry professionals about mechanical engineering, motive power techniques - automotive and heavy equipment, carpentry and renovation techniques and welding techniques. Students also received a Confederation College campus tour.

The virtual event supports SNCDSB’s strategic priority Focus on the Future and dedication to support students' pathways to success as they discover who they are, what their opportunities are, and who they want to become as students consider their own personalized plan for achieving their goals.

Gift pack and plaque received from Skills Ontario Thunder BayClassroom participants received free hands-on learning kits courtesy of the School College Work Initiative (SCWI) to be completed in class and would extend the learning experience from the event. The remote learning classroom won a beautiful art piece to be hung at St. Edward Catholic School in Nipigon. A plaque will be displayed to acknowledge the contribution and participation of stakeholders, students and learning partners that participated and coordinated this rich learning opportunity.
