COVID-19 Update Letter to Parents from Maria Vasanelli, Director of Education
Posted on 11/19/2020

Dear Parents/Guardians:

At our August town hall I stated that your children's well-being was our number one priority, and we continue to work on making your child'ssure you that if the Ministry of Education decides on extended closures, we are ready to pivot to distance learning via google classroom or any other technology required to provide quality education to our students.

At this moment, the public health situation across the province is evolving and we want to share it with you. The Thunder Bay Health Unit keeps us updated on a regular basis. This week they stated that "While there are COVID-19 hotspots in other places, we in the TBDHU region are also being impacted now. We have seen a significant number of positive COVID-19 cases over the last two weeks. Case counts are also increasing in Ontario and across our country. Recent projections indicate that this number will continue to rise in Ontario into December".

It's a reminder for us to stay vigilant and continue to adhere to safety protocols. As the Christmas season approaches, usually a time to celebrate with family and friends, we have the additional responsibility of adhering to COVID safety guidelines to protect each other.

I hope you and your families are continuing to stay healthy and strong. It takes a community to keep our schools safe.

Sincerely,

Maria Vasanelli

Director of Education
