The Superior North District Catholic School Board (SNCDSB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Janice Nicol Vella as the new Human Resources and Academic Services Officer, effective November 10, 2025.
Janice holds a degree in Psychology and Anthropology, along with a Post-Degree Diploma of Technology in Human Resources Management. She brings extensive human resources experience from the health care and municipal government sectors during her time in Vancouver, BC. More recently, Janice has further expanded her administrative expertise through roles in both the education and health care fields.
A dedicated community leader, Janice is also a retired member of the Cadet Instructor Cadre, having proudly served for 17 years with Sea Cadet Corps in Nipigon, Thunder Bay, Port Moody, New Westminster, and Vancouver.
After spending six years living in Mellieħa, Malta, Janice and her family returned to her hometown of Nipigon in 2018. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family exploring the natural beauty of Northwestern Ontario — from summers at St. Joseph’s Island on Lake Superior to snowshoeing during the winter months.
Janice is excited to join SNCDSB and looks forward to contributing to the continued success of the Human Resources and Academic Services teams.
