Media Release: St. Joseph Catholic School Principal

The Superior North Catholic District School Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Edward Seymour as the new Principal for St. Joseph Catholic School, effective August 15, 2025.
Mr. Seymour brings a wealth of experience and a deeply rooted commitment to faith-based education. As a dedicated husband, father, and proud grandfather, he emphasizes the profound impact of family relationships on his leadership approach. "These relationships ground me," he states. "They remind me every day that behind every student is someone who wants the very best for them. It’s this perspective that shapes my approach to leadership—not just as a principal, but as someone who genuinely cares."
He comes to St. Joseph Catholic School as a passionate, Christ-centered leader with many years of experience in K–12 education and administration. He has had the privilege of supporting students, families, and staff through various stages of their educational journeys. His leadership philosophy is built on a servant's heart, prioritizing presence, active listening, and leading with empathy and love.
Holding a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership with a Special Designation in Inclusive Schooling and trained as an Instructional Coach, Mr. Seymour is deeply committed to inclusive, student-centered education. He believes in recognizing every child as "beautifully and wonderfully made" in the image of God, affirming that "with the right support, encouragement, and relationships, every student can succeed and flourish."
His leadership is firmly rooted in Christian values and further enriched by the wisdom of Indigenous ways of knowing. He sees great harmony between Catholic faith and Indigenous teachings, noting, "both speak to love, humility, interconnectedness, and the sacredness of creation." He is a proponent of practices such as land-based learning, storytelling, observation, and learning from Elders to connect students to identity, culture, and place.
"More than anything, I want to build a school community where students feel safe, loved, and inspired. A place where staff feel supported and valued. A place where families feel heard and seen," he shares regarding his vision for St. Joseph Catholic School.
He and his wife, Cindy, are truly honoured to be joining the faith-filled community of St. Joseph Catholic School. They look forward to building strong relationships, serving with open hearts, and contributing to a school environment "where every child is known, loved, and empowered to become all that God has created them to be."
