The Superior North Catholic District School Board (SNCDSB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Cara Figliomeni as the new Principal for St. Martin Catholic School.

Cara has been an educator with the Superior North Catholic District School Board since 2003, bringing more than 20 years of experience in Catholic education. Throughout her career, she has taught in a variety of classroom settings and, since 2022, has served as the Board’s Technology Enabled Learning Teacher (TELT) Contact.

In her role as TELT, Cara has worked collaboratively with educators, administrators, and system leaders across all eight schools within the Superior North Catholic District School Board to support a range of Board-wide initiatives. Her work has included supporting the Reach Ahead credit program, New Teachers Induction Program, artificial intelligence initiatives, digital learning resources, and the integration of educational technologies to enhance teaching and learning. Through this system-level role, she has supported professional learning and supported educators exploring innovative, inclusive, and purposeful approaches to technology.

Cara has also played a leadership role in the Board’s Virtual Summer Learning Program, supporting the planning and delivery of engaging virtual learning opportunities for students. Her work with the program has focused on creating inclusive, accessible, and hands-on learning experiences that foster student engagement, collaboration, and success in a virtual environment.

Cara holds a Master of Educational Technology from the University of British Columbia, where her graduate studies focused on the meaningful integration of educational and assistive technologies, accessibility, ableism, inclusion, and Indigenous education. Her studies strengthened her commitment to creating equitable and culturally responsive learning environments, with a particular focus on incorporating Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and learning within virtual and technology-enabled learning environments.

Cara’s leadership is grounded in faith, collaboration, inclusion, and lifelong learning. She believes in leading by example, empowering others, and creating opportunities for shared leadership and decision-making. She recognizes that strong school communities are built through relationships, collaboration, and the collective strengths of students, staff, families, and community partners.

Cara looks forward to joining the St. Martin Catholic School community and working together to foster a welcoming Catholic learning environment that supports student achievement, well-being, faith development, inclusion, and belonging.
