Minister of Education Visits St. Hilary Catholic School

St. Hilary Catholic School welcomed the Honorable Minister of Education, Minister Jill Dunlop, to explore the school’s new addition and retrofit. This visit showcased the school’s commitment to enhancing literacy and physical education.

Minister Dunlop began her visit with the grade ½ physical education class led by teacher Nikki Nesplak using the Lü Interactive Board for active movement. Hon. Minister Dunlop joined the students and actively engaged in a dance activity to promote physical activity. This session underscored the importance of physical activity in fostering well-being and social skills. After the activities, students presented Minister Dunlop with a handmade thank-you card.

The visit continued in the 5/6 classroom, where students and teacher Denise Hogue had prepared questions about the Minister's role and her motivations in her role as education minister. Minister Dunlop responded enthusiastically, sharing insights into her responsibilities.
Following the classroom visits, Principal Malo led Minister Dunlop, on a tour of the school’s new addition. This expansion was completed to create modern and spacious learning environments, that promote Indigenous culture, language and learning while improving accessibility and safety throughout the school.

St. Hilary Catholic School continues to be a model of excellence within the community, emphasizing the vital connection between literacy, physical education, and student engagement. The Superior North Catholic District School Board is proud of the project's completion and its positive impact on the St. Hilary Catholic School community.
