Holy Saviour Catholic School is very excited to share news about an Outdoor Indigenous Learning Project we have underway. In collaboration with community partners, our educator teams and our Holy Saviour Catholic School student leadership team, we are working to create outdoor learning spaces that will include a gazebo, walking paths which will create spaces for outdoor/environmental and Indigenous learning, medicinal gardens for our Indigenous programming and enhanced play spaces for our Kindergarten learners! The gazebo and walking paths will provide a space for our students to explore and take part in land-based learning activities such as learning about the Grandfather Teachings and Environmental Studies. We are excited about the potential these spaces will have to support student achievement, well-being, inclusion and equity, and community engagement.

This project wouldn't be possible without the generous financial support of community partners, the support of our Superior North Catholic District School Board team, the support and voices of our Parent Council, our incredible Educator Team, and our Holy Saviour Catholic School students.

Thank you, Barminco for your generous donation of $10,000

With the donations we've received to put our ideas and visions into action, we are excited to continue our planning and will begin Phase 1 of the project this spring. We will continue to communicate and post the development of the project as we make progress.

Let the learning adventures begin!

Special thanks to Barry Biggs, Plant and Field Services Manager; James Salo, Plant and Field Services Assistant Manager; Sarah Clowes, Technology Enabled Learning Teacher; Paul Tsekouras, Superintendent of Education; and Kerry Desjardins, Superintendent of Education from our Superior North Catholic District School Board team who have been actively working to help support the development and process of putting this vision into action!
