To highlight Indigenous Education across the curriculum as well as celebrate Indigenous History month, students enrolled in Native as a Second Language at Holy Angels Catholic School in Schreiber and Remote Learning students from across the Superior North Catholic District School Board researched the long history and significant contributions of Indigenous Canadians. Student research was conducted to complete 90 squares that represent the periodic table of elements. The following categories included in the Periodic Table of Indigenous History were Athletes, Writers, Entrepreneurs, Visual Artists, Government, Activists, Musicians, Community/Education, Scientists/STEM and Famous Firsts.

The first people recognized on the table were students from Holy Angels Catholic School and their significance to Indigenous History. Many thanks to educators Cara Figliomeni, Brie Ann Copp, Niki Nesplak and Nicole O’Neill who collaborated on the creation of The Periodic Table of Indigenous History.

The Periodic Table is also an act of ReconciliACTION as a Legacy School, the partnership between The Downie Wenjack Fund and Holy Angels Catholic School.
