Anti-Sex Trafficking Presentation for Students

Student presentation on Anti-Sex Trafficking facilitated by Beendigen.

Superior North Catholic District School Board grade 7 & 8 students in all eight schools across the district took part in very important presentations on the topic of Anti-Sex Trafficking facilitated by Beendigen. Unfortunately, sex trafficking is very common, and it can impact us all in one way or another.

“Beendigen has supported women and children in Thunder Bay since 1978. The agency was established to provide temporary shelter for Indigenous women and their children who were dealing with abuse and were in need of food and shelter. Their mission is to provide safety and shelter to Indigenous women and children experiencing violence and to facilitate the cycle of healing through the delivery of culturally appropriate programs and services to individuals and families.” (Beendigen website, www.beendigen.com).

Beendigen works closely with many organizations to combat sex trafficking crimes and build awareness amongst teenagers and adults. They also offer support and resources to victims of sex trafficking.
We are grateful for the learning opportunity given to our students, bringing awareness and providing tools to keep themselves safe from human trafficking. With education, we can start tackling the issue and creating change.
