Superior North Catholic District School Board celebrated Digital Literacy Awareness week, May 25 - 28, by offering students, educators, and parents learning opportunities. Digital literacy skills are important for living and learning in the 21st century. SNCDSB has the strategic priority of Focus on the Future, and digital literacy skills promote learning opportunities that will equip students to leverage technology to support their learning.

Digital literacy awareness week was kick-started on May 20 with a Youtube Live event for parents and students with Cobblestone Collective. Students were challenged to become teachers and create a tutorial video to teach their parents one skill they use in Google. Digital citizenship is a key component of digital literacy. SNCDSB subscribes to digital games through Media Smarts. Educators were encouraged to offer and promote digital citizenship skills in their classroom using the Media Smarts digital citizenship games. Students learn digital citizenship skills - cyberbullying, privacy and security and the importance of developing a positive digital footprint.

Technology apps Available to Staff and Students

SNCDSB student learning is benefited through learning partnerships with Cobblestone Collective and Superior Science. Cobblestone STEAMing Ahead 2021 learning opportunities offered on May 25 was promoted throughout the school board as a way for educators to engage students in collaborative learning in a global learning environment.

Finally, Superior Science offered 12 workshops to SNCDSB students during Digital Literacy Awareness Week.
