Superior North Catholic District School Board is pleased to welcome Ashley Muir to her new role as Indigenous Education Lead effective September 2022.
As a proud member of the Red Rock Indian Band, Indigenous Education has always been a passion for Ashley. Since 2012, Ashley began teaching the Ojibwe language with Superior North Catholic School Board allowing many opportunities to collaborate with community and community partners. As an Indigenous woman, Ashley is a strong advocate for the preservation and restoration of the Ojibwe language and culture and is extremely passionate about ensuring that traditional and community values are instilled in all our children and youth. Ashley Muir is a longtime resident of Red Rock, a town where she was raised and moved back to after she graduated from Lakehead University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and graduated from the Bachelor of Education - Indigenous Teacher Education Program at Queen’s University.
Ashley is actively involved in many leadership roles and is always seeking out professional development learning opportunities valuing lifelong learning. She takes immense pride in fostering positive working relationships with staff and students by providing support to ensure the success of all students, staff and communities.
Ms. Muir is excited to begin her new role at Superior North Catholic District School Board and is looking forward to working with all staff, students, parents and community partners.
