Letter to Parents Return to School
Posted on 01/08/2021

Dear Parents/Guardians:

The Ministry of Education has informed us that all elementary students in Northern Ontario school boards will return to in-person learning on January 11, 2021.Read the Ministry's full release.

We thank parents and all of our staff for your commitment during the remote learning programming that took place this week. We also ask that your child return the device they used for this week, whether it was a Chromebook or iPad (along with all cords) on Monday, January 11th. If you cannot return the device on Monday, please make arrangements with your school Principal. Students in our remote learning program will continue virtually with their remote learning teachers.

We continue to adhere to the Thunder Bay District Health Unit's Travel Advisory which states that we avoid non-essential travel outside of Northwestern Ontario. As we have stated before, the safety and well-being of our students is our priority. Although we find ourselves in a pandemic, we strive to make our students' school experience a positive one.

As we prepare for a return to school on Monday, it will be extremely important that we continue to follow the health and safety protocols that have been put in place in our schools to keep students and staff healthy and safe. We will continue to reinforce the use of masks and hand hygiene as well as cohorting and physical distancing with students and staff. All students, staff and essential visitors should conduct a daily screening for symptoms of COVID-19 every day before attending school using Ontario's COVID-19 School Screening Tool. Any students or staff who do not feel well should not attend school.

If you have additional questions please do not hesitate to contact your school Principal.

Sincerely,

Maria Vasanelli

Director of Education
