2022-23 School Year Safety Practices and Protocols

At Superior North Catholic District School Board our goal is to provide our students with a positive learning environment that engages them academically and socially. Students will be back in our classrooms with our educators using incredible new supports and resources to ensure they are as safe and supported as possible.

On the advice of the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, for the 2022-23 school year, most health and safety requirements remain unchanged from the previous direction provided at the end of the 2021-22 school year.

Continuing with this direction and based on the advice of the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, masks will not be required for students, staff and visitors in schools, school board offices, or on student transportation. However, our schools are mask friendly. Our schools continue to be welcoming and inclusive environments.

It is recommended that staff, students and visitors continue to self-screen every day before attending school using the COVID-19 school and child care screening tool. Following public health guidance, individuals should stay home if they are feeling ill to prevent the spread of illness.

Appropriate hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette will continue to be promoted and integrated throughout the school day.

Other SNCDSB successful implementation measures from last year such as signage, cleaning and the use of HEPA filters to enhance air quality will continue and augment the health and safety protocols identified above. All health and safety protocols will continue to be reviewed and adjusted as consultations continue with the Thunder Bay District Health Unit and the Ministry of Education.

We look forward to a school year of growth, learning and fostering good relationships!

The first day of school for students is Tuesday, September 6th.
